Joanna Hanstead

Having worked in this field for over thirty-five years, I now offer a combined treatment approach. All the treatments I practice are gentle, and each session is tailored to the needs of you, the patient. I learned when I was training that our bodies have an innate wisdom, and I work with techniques that reflect this philosophy. We are sovereign beings. As well as addressing physical pain and dis-ease, natural therapies can help us align and realise more of our potential, our unique life purpose. Many of my patients are sensitive souls.

In December 2016 I voluntarily de-registered from the General Chiropractic Council. This is why I do not now work using the title chiropractor. I am a member of the Register of Craniosacral Therapists. I work in Frome, Somerset, UK.

I qualified in McTimoney Chiropractic in 1987 and in Craniosacral Therapy in 1988. More recently I became a Spinal Touch (now Core Postural Alignment) practitioner.  I was a senior tutor at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic for several years. I was a fellow of the McTimoney Chiropractic Association and the Royal College of Chiropractors. In 1990 I founded The Well, a still thriving Natural Health Centre in Birmingham. Over the years I have explored a range of healing systems including Reiki, Matrix Energetics and more recently Distant Craniosacral Integration.

I have a degree in Physiology and Biochemistry, an MSc in Biomechanics, a Diploma in Chiropractic, and a Post Graduate Certificate of Education.

As well as treatment sessions I love to explain what I do, and to pass on basic healing skills to others, both lay and professional who feel drawn to learn. Some distant work undertaken, please ask.

Other interests include singing and playing sacred music from a variety of traditions. Making music has many similarities to working as a practitioner. Both playing an instrument and working with the body require skill and sensitivity, and evolve with time. With each the aim is to create a healing and peaceful atmosphere. Find out more >

Over the years I have worked with people of all ages, from newborns to the very elderly, also many life stages, questions and conditions. Since the world events of 2020 I have made some changes to how (longer sessions), when (less!), and where (different places) I work. I currently work in Frome.
