Joanna Hanstead

“I do not hold myself out to be, or call myself a chiropractor, chiropractic practitioner, chiropractitioner, chiropractic physician, or any other kind of chiropractor, either explicitly or by implication.”

Having worked in this field for thirty years, I now offer a combined treatment approach. All the treatments I practice are gentle, and each session is tailored to the needs of you, the patient. I learned when I was training that our bodies have an innate wisdom, and I am committed to working with bodywork techniques that reflect this philosophy. My special interests include working with pregnancy, babies, children. Many of my patients are sensitive souls.

In December 2016 I voluntarily de-registered from the General Chiropractic Council. This is why I do not now work as chiropractor. I am a member of the Register of Craniosacral Therapists and a member of the Association for McTimoney Practitioners. I have clinics in Frome and Bath.

I qualified in McTimoney Chiropractic in 1987 and in Craniosacral Therapy in 1988. More recently I became a Spinal Touch (now Core Postural Alignment) practitioner.  I was a senior tutor at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic for several years. I was a fellow of the McTimoney Chiropractic Association and the Royal College of Chiropractors. In 1990 I founded The Well, a still thriving Natural Health Centre in Birmingham. Over the years I have explored a range of healing systems, including Reiki and Matrix Energetics.

I have a degree in Physiology and Biochemistry, an MSc in Biomechanics, a Diploma in Chiropractic, and a Post Graduate Certificate of Education.

As well as treatment sessions I offer free spine checks, and talks and demonstrations to lay and professional groups. I love to explain what I do, or to pass on basic healing skills to others who feel drawn to learn.

Other interests include singing and playing sacred music from a variety of traditions. Making music has many similarities to working as a practitioner. Both playing an instrument and working with the body require skill and sensitivity, and evolve with time. With each the aim is to create a healing and peaceful atmosphere.  unicornvillagecamps.co.uk

I discovered Jo at the Frome Cheese Show. My mobility and flexibility is much improved since coming to see Jo. Also, since coming to Frome I’ve discovered what an interesting place it is, with lots of lovely old buildings and good shops.

She is absolutely amazing! I have been a client of hers for over seven years and if I put my back out – within two sessions its gone! I have crawled in here before and left walking. Try her! She is a miracle worker.
